A cat breed is a group of domestic cats
that a particular cat registry, like CFA (Cat Fanciers'
Association or ACAFA (American Cat Fanciers' Association)
and other similar organizations have come to terms to identify
as such.
In order to be accepted a cat must conform
to the registry's standard for the breed. Cat breeds
have characteristic features like appearance, body shape
and personality that separate them from other breeds.
