Your Cat's Perspective

Your cat is a unique character. He or she may not want to be trained whatsoever or may want to be an apt student -but only if the mood strikes them and on their own terms. Try again later to see if they're in the mood.
Where the cat's litter box is placed is as crucial as maintaining a clean box. Here are tips on preventing litter box lapses and training.

  • A Guide to Preventing Litter Box Lapses
    1. Always keep the litter box clean with fresh kitty litter, remember the box is their toilet. Fresh kitty litter encourages them to go where you want.
    2. The right location, the litter box must be easy to access but not to close to their sleeping or eating area.
    3. They should feel safe, calm and private. The area should have little or no activity so that the cats have the sense that there will be no surprises or intrusions.
    4. Cats must be able to escape from their litter box freely without hassle.
    5. Litter box problems could signal anxiety or health problem. If there are multiple cats, install more than one litter box and place them in different rooms. There are also physical ailments such as constipation, diarrhea, bladder etc. that lead to litter box behavior problems.
    6. Consider getting an Automatic Cat Litter Box. This ensures a fresh box for kitty, while giving you more time. An automatic cat litter box is also great for homes with multiple cats.
  • Litter Box Tips
    • To make a quick disposable Litter Box, use a soda case box and fill with kitty litter. They also sell disposable litter boxes when bringing kitty on a trip.
    • For an effective cat proof odor deodorizer, sprinkle baking soda in the Litter Box.
    • Thoroughly rinse the Litter Box after using a cleaner. Cleaners usually leave a residue of scent that some cats will stay away from.
    • If your Litter Box clings to smells and stains, use a plastic trash bag or a disposable cat liner. If the disposable litter liner is being shredded and clawed through place a newspaper over the litter liner and then fill with Cat Litter.
    • To reduce crumbs outside the Litter Box, place car mats or doormats next to the litter box. Plastic mats are easier to wipe down and clean.
